Many people have touched my life who have now moved on. This page is
dedicated to them; they may be gone, but they never left my heart.
Vincent Portello (1971-1999)
I always enjoyed
visiting the restaurant you worked at and relaxing as we joked. You
had a kind heart and a warm smile, always willing to share both with anyone.
You may not have realized the inspiration you were to those around you.
I'm sorry we didn't have more time to share, but I thank you for the
time we did know each other and I know we'll see each other again someday.
Bethany Dauray (1980-2001)
I never received the
e-mail about your passing over Spring Break. I came to Latin class
with the Christmas gift I'd promised you when I found out. I
still have it with me, and I'm not sure what to do with it. I would
give it to your family, but I know everything was difficult for them--even
moreso since your father joined you. If the alumni house ever gets
with it I can have a plaque done for you, though I know you'd be embarassed
by the attention. Thank you for being a true friend when I needed it
most, and for letting me know you're okay. Next time we talk we won't
have a poli sci exam looming over our heads.
Diane Silkowski (1943-2004)
When Vinnie passed
away I never expected we would be facing the same thing with you only a few
years later. I don't think you ever knew how much everyone loved you,
and how much it hurt to see everything take its toll on you. The restaurant
is closed now; it never felt the same with you and Vinnie missing. I
enjoyed the humor we shared--slightly twisted, but always sincere. You
left before I could tell you I passed the placement exam and was going to
attend classes at Columbia, but I think you know. Take care of yourself,
and we'll share our unique brand of humor again sometime.

Dragon's Gate is
a small community of roleplayers, and in the span of six months it was made
even smaller. You three contributed much to the community, and have
left a hole that has been impossible to fill. Spending time with each
of you was a unique and enjoyable experience; I only wish I could have met
you all in real life. May everyone always remember your contributions
to the game, and to the "DGate family".
